Season's Greetings

Season's Greetings from Tudor SC to all club members and site visitors. In keeping with the festive time of year here are a few photographs taken at the Children's Party. The event was well attended, and even Santa took time out of his busy schedule to drop by!

TSC Website wins RYA Award

We have just received notification from the RYA that the Tudor website has won a regional RYA Communication Award. This will be presented at the London Boat Show on the 11th January, where the National winners will be announced - so we are keeping our fingers crossed!

Needless to say we are delighted, but that's not to say that we don't still want your suggestions as to how we could improve the site.

If you could report any problems to me I can make sure that all is working properly when it goes live. Please note that I am still adding results to the database, so the latest races will not be in there yet.

22nd September 2002

Novice Day

The novice day was a success, 7 boats enjoyed a good days sailing including a few short races. The weather was just right - warm and a gentle force 3. My thanks to the Race Officer the patrol boat driver and crew and to the 'expert' sailors who turned up to help the novices.

Cruiser Captain

Regrettably, Felicity McKenna is stepping down as Cruiser Captain at the end of this season for personal reasons. On behalf of the Sailing Committee, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Felicity for all the hard work she has put in during the last year. I would also like to ask all you cruiser owners out there to seriously consider whether you would like to stand to Cruiser Captain; if you would like to discuss what is involved, please talk to either Felicity or Richard.

Richard Gunn, Hon. Sailing Secretary

If anyone is upgrading their fixed VHF radio to a DSC model the winter, could they please consider donating/selling their old (working) radio to the club as our current club base station is getting a little long in the tooth.

Richard Gunn, Hon. Sailing Secretary

Tudor Regatta

We had a very successful regatta this year although it was held earlier than usual. We had visitors from Locks, Langstone and Abbey clubs and Tudor dinghy sailors managed to acquit themselves well winning the fast, medium and Wayfarer classes.

You might like to note in your diaries that the 2003 Tudor Regatta will be held on the weekend of 12/13th July 2003.

2nd July 2002

Hamble cruise

We had a cruise to the River Hamble on the 29th and 30th June. With 9 boats sailing in light winds to start with, but gusting to a force 6 sailing up Southampton Water which was quite exciting. We all berthed at Swanwick Marina and went ashore for a meal in company.

30th June 2002

Dinghy Cruise report

The Round Hayling Dinghy Cruise (June 8th) went very well. Ten sailing dinghies, and of course the patrol boat, left Tudor at about 1000hrs, heading across to Langstone bridge. The Wayfarers dropped their masts and went under the bridge, while the rest went over the road on trailers kindly supplied by Langstone Sailing Club. Then straight down Chichester Harbour to Hayling Island Sailing Club where we had lunch. We left HISC with the last bit of ebb tide heading along Hayling seafront into Langstone and home to Tudor at about 1630hrs. A good day was had by all.

A custom race results system will be implemented shortly (this is largely complete already). Apologies for the lack of recent results this has caused.

Also planned is a For Sale section, so send any sailing related items to forsale@tudorsc.org.uk. Adverts will be left up for a month, so if you have not sold the item do let me know.

We would also like to hear your ideas and views on the site so that we can make more use of it for club members. If you have any problems viewing the site please let me know.
