New lift in details
Just received an email notification detailing that lift in will go ahead this weekend, so we start at 0700 hrs tomorrow morning (Saturday 5th April). The Patrol Boat training will go ahead on Saturday as will the Coffee Pot race on Sunday. Check your email or the club for further details.

Lift in postponed
Due to trouble with the tractor the Tudor lift in has been postponed. Watch your email (if Tudor has it) for details of the new date, but it is unlikely that there will be any news until mid week. I'll update here when I know more, but it would also be worth checking the official club website (no news there yet), but it is in the links page for the web address.

Site status
Just a quick note to clarify that this website is not an official Tudor
website. It has been in existence for around 10 years or more now (I'd have to
check through old backups to be more precise!). It gained its own domain name
in late 1999/early 2000, and was adopted as the official club website for a
while. In October 2003 the club decided to run its own website, and this went
live in around March 2004 (from memory).
Initially the original domain name for this site was a .co.uk one, and this
was handed over for the club to use as part of the transfer. The current
.org.uk domain name was registered to continue to host the website. I'm not
sure why, but in early 2006 the club stopped using the .co.uk domain name, and
was unable to provide me with the necessary details for renewal (since I still
owned it). That domain was unfortunately lost to one of the internets
scavengers and I wouldn't bother visiting. The new owner, who is clearly not
using it properly, did offer to sell it back to me for a few hundred pounds to
cover costs - he is clearly hosting it with the wrong people if it costs him
that much!
The current site has not been changed for some time, although I am
experimenting with a few things that will probably make their way here when
they are ready. If you want to find the official website just pop to the links page. I won't put a link here since it is
already linked and I may as well maintain just one link.

Urgent Working Parties
Urgent working parties required prior to cruiser lift in. We
need your help
As you may be aware the club has purchased a new rig to recover and
launch members boats. This rig will be a tremendous asset to the club
but, as club members are to be trained to drive the tractor and move
boats the executive committee believe that it would be safer and easier
to have a straight run through to the main compound rather than
manoeuvring the tight bends between the existing compound gates.
It has therefore been agreed to modify the fence panels immediately
opposite the top of the slip and to provide a base surface suitable to
drive the rig across between the clubhouse compound and the main boat
compound.
This work is to start as soon as possible so volunteers are needed
to help clear the area and do the groundwork.
Work Parties are therefore required on the following
weekends:
- Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd October
- Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th October
- Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th October
- Plus any further weekends as required.
Work will start at 9:30 each morning please bring along spades,
shovels and pick axes etc.
Maintenance hours can be booked for this work but even if you have
fulfilled your required quota we would still like your assistance as
there is a need for this work to be done as quickly as possible.
We do need your help so if you are able to put in a few hours please
let Andy Goodyear know as soon as possible when you will be
available.
Over the first weekend some equipment will need to be hired so if
you can assist this weekend please let Andy know by midday on Friday so
he can book the equipment and schedule the work.
Contact Andy Goodyear - Bosun
Due to the need to make a modification to the rig by the
manufacturer and this work on the compound modification, it has been
necessary to move the planned date for the lift out of cruisers by the
club rig to the weekend of Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th November. If
you are planning to bring your boat ashore in the club for the winter
please make sure you advise your insurance company that your boat will
remain afloat for an extra 3 weeks.

carried out on the water supply.

Langstone Fairway Buoy now fully functional
The light on the Langstone Fairway Beacon is now working again, as
detailed in the Navwarn 32/05 cancellation.

Langstone Fairway Buoy unlit
I have yet to rebuild the Navwarn system after the QHM broke things
by moving to HTML mail, but this one leapt out as worth posting.
Navwarn 32/05 quotes "THE LANGSTONE FAIRWAY BUOY IN POSN 50 DEG 46.32N
001 DEG 01.36W IS REPORTED UNLIT UFN." See the for details of this and other navigation warnings.
As an aside, I am still working on a new system to provide the
Navwarn notices on the TudorSC, PLSA and Sailsite websites. A new
integrated Brokerage section is in the works too.

Trafalgar 200 Sea Carnival
Could anyone who intends entering the Trafalgar 200 Sea Carnival on
Saturday 11th June, please put their name on the list on the Cruiser
notice board in the club lounge ASAP (the Cruiser notice board is on
the left as you enter the lounge). The carnival will be going ahead but
with probably only about 200 boats rather than the original estimate of
500 +. Further details will be available nearer the time, so watch the
club notice boards (and hopefully the website) for details.
A couple of people are interested in going as crew (as they do not
have a boat), so if anyone is looking for crew, please let me know.

Trafalgar 200 Fleet Review
Anyone who is interested in watching the Trafalgar 200 Fleet Review
on Tuesday 28 June, should download the safety instructions from http://www.trafalgar200.com/downloads/t200_ifr_safety.pdf.
It is a condition of entry that you have read and are carrying these
instructions, they also show you where you can anchor. For anyone who
has difficulty downloading the, there will be some copies on the
cruiser notice board; I believe that Royston also has a few
copies.

Compound Reorganisations
Notice to all members with dinghies in the compound
We are going to reorganise the spaces and their allocations within
the compound but have been greatly hampered by being unable to identify
many boats. Please ensure we know which one is yours.
If you have rejoined and paid your fees you should have received the
stickers for your boat. Please make sure you have stuck them on.
Please ensure that your trolley is also marked and in a usable
condition as we may need to move boats around the compound.
Would you please comply with the above request within the next 3
weeks or risk the action indicated in club Bye-laws 9.2 h, i and j. The
boat may be impounded if thought to be unseaworthy and removed / sold
off if repairs are not made.

Cruiser Meeting Feedback
Spring Cruise, Sat 28 May - Sat 4 June
There are approximately 8 boats interested in doing the Spring
Cruise over to France weather permitting of course. Departing TSC
Friday eve approx 2300 hrs if we go straight to ST. Vasst or midnight
to Cherbourg. Its still the intention to do a couple of harbours,
possibly visiting Carantan. A club member, Mark Summers is willing
to crew for anybody on the cruise, if you have a spare berth he is
looking to gain experience in cruising across the channel. Please
contact me if you are interested.
Summer Cruise, Sat 30 July - Sat 13 August
The summer cruise was discussed and it would seem that a couple of
boats were intending to do the West Country, a few were interested in
doing the Bay of Seine and another suggestion was somewhere else on the
French coast. I am going to put up posters on the notice board for
these destinations, please add your details if you wish to cruise in
company.
Wooton Creek, Sat 14 May
The Royal Victoria SC is aware that we are having a rally; they have
said we are welcome to use their facilities. Please note that food will
not be served that evening as there is a function on. The Fishbourne
Inn comes well recommend.
Gould Trophy
As the Gould Trophy was not held on the 30th April it was decided to
hold it on the 9th July instead, this will replace Roystons Funsail.
Start time to be announced.
Trafalgar 200 - Sea Carnival, Sat 11 June
Please see the notice board for details, Richard Gunn is
co-ordinating this event on behalf of Tudor A club member is
offering to crew for anyone attending the Sea Carnival, please contact
me for details.

Are you checking or moving your mooring this Spring?
If so, why not do it in company, as recommended by the club's Safety
Co-coordinator.
Checking the tides, the best tide for checking front row moorings is
on the afternoon of Friday 11th March when Low Water is about 0.5m at
about 17:45.
I shall be moving my mooring gear, from mooring 48 to mooring 35, on
that day and suggest that any like minded members join me. I suggest
that we meet up at about16:00, when you can still get to the moorings
without walking.
If you are interested, please let me know.
16 February 2005
Cruiser Security
Further to the recent "break-ins" of 16 cruisers in the compound, it
has been brought to my attention that there has been further sightings
of people of ill repute snooping inside and outside of the compound.
It is therefore advised that all cruiser owners do not become
complacent and remove all valuables from their boats.
Will all members be vigilant in the security of the compound and of
the people around.

Cruiser Meeting Feedback
- The Gould Trophy is usually a 2-legged race to Lymington,
unfortunately the tide on Saturday is a late one, which would mean
arriving in the evening. Therefore the decision is to hold the race on
the return leg only.
- The Spring Cruise is over to France, just a couple of destinations
for 1 week. Already 4-6 boats have expressed an interest, do let me
know if you are also interested.
- The Summer Cruise; A couple of people suggested they would like to
go west- Falmouth. Other suggestions were the Bay of Seine or Cherbourg
then round to Dillette, Carteret etc. Please let me have your ideas as
to where you would like to go.
- Other suggested venues for the weekend rallys were: Marchwood,
Ashlet Creek, Ealing quay, UKSA, Ocean Village and Fareham. Also
suggested an inter-boat weekend, no venue to eat out - entertaining on
board.
- Racing: The Sunday Series is to be held as an out of harbour race
this season, sailing a course that takes the fleet 3-4 hours to
complete, this would mean 6 hours on the water in total.
- Richard Gunn is co-ordinating for our club to take part in The Sea
Carnival that is on Sat June 11th, please see the posters in the club
or visit our website for information on this event.

Update
This site is currently undergoing a rebuild of the news section in
order to integrate it with two other sites - the PLSA (Portsmouth & Langstone
Sailing Association, and the newly developing Sailsite ones. Currently we
share forum space with these two sites. The new developments will
combine the news and for sale sections allowing shared content and
site specific content. I have left some key items of news from this
year, and some older items are available from the links on this page.
Currently Sailsite is under slightly slow development in my spare
time, but it is planned/hoped that extra facilities will be available
to both this site and the PLSA one by sharing resources.
Watch this space, as they say!
Old news - key items below.
10th February 2004
New Official Club Site
Four and a half months after deciding to taking on over the official
Tudor SC website the new site is available. A previous news item
referencing the December 2003 Sailing Committee minutes stated that
the address would be http://www.tudorsailingclub.org/
which was registered for the club at the end of October 2003. It
appears from both the Exec and Sailing Committee minutes for January
2004 that this domain has been abandoned and the site is now at http://www.tudorsailing.org.uk/.
The webmaster of this site will take the format, choice of forums and
gallery software as a compliment! The original http://www.tudorsc.co.uk/ address
is still pointing to this site and is the third domain that has been
purchased by the club for the website. From the Exec minutes of the
January meeting the target was to have the site ready before the end
of January. Although this date appears to have slipped a couple of
weeks, and there are a few sections that need content, the site is now
accesssible.
10th February 2004
Race Results
Since this is no longer the official club site the race results are
no longer supplied direct from the Sailing Committee. Having checked
the club today none of the first three Icicle series results have been
posted on the notice board either. If anyone who has them would like
to let me have a copy I will make them available here. Although the
official website appears to have gone live today (see other news)
there are no new results available there yet either.
11th January 2004
Membership Renewals
Membership renewals are now due, and the fees set at the AGM are
listed below. Invoices should be dropping through your letter box any
day now. Please check the details and return them to the Treasurer
before 1st March to avoid rejoining fees. Alternatively the Assistant
Secretary will be at the club between 2100hrs and 2200hrs each Friday
evening during February. Note that the Club Duty is
charged in arrears and will therefore only be £92.00.
Fees for 2004

3rd January 2004
AGM Sunday 11th January
A quick reminder to all members as listed on the home page that the
AGM will be held at the club on Sunday 11th January at 1400hrs.
30th December 2003
No longer the Official site
At a meeting on the 20th October the Executive Committee decided to
take over both management and costs of the official club site. This
site will now revert to its original calling as a combination of
personal site and an award winning reference site for Aptanet.
From reading the Sailing Committee minutes of 9th December 2003 it
appears that a new domain name was registered back on the 25th October,
so I assume the new site will be found at http://www.tudorsailingclub.org/
when it is ready. The current site has a new address, but will continue to
support the original http://www.tudorsc.co.uk/ until
the new webmaster redirects it. I have donated the original one to the
club to avoid confusion, although I have no idea whether they intend to
use it given the newly registered one.
